Overview

Shruti Law PLLC® is an Intellectual Property (IP) focused law firm. The firm can handle protection of and management of intellectual property assets, risk analysis, IP strategy, licensing, and cross-functional collaboration to align IP assets with business goals.

1. Portfolio Management Including Patent Application Preparation and Prosecution

  • Drafting, filing, and prosecuting patent applications to secure IP rights.
  • Managing the corporation's patent portfolio, including tracking deadlines for filing, maintenance, and renewals. 
  • Conducting patent searches to assess the novelty and patentability of inventions.

  • Ghost drafting by preparing or drafting a patent application or response on behalf of another patent attorney or patent agent without being formally credited as the drafter. We ghost draft for corporations and large law firms. 
  • Reviewing patent portfolios to selectively prune and abandon patents that are no longer valuable in an effort to manage costs, strategically align patent portfolios with current strategic goals, competitive positioning, minimize/eliminate liability/risk, portfolio simplification, enhancing valuation, focus on innovation - new technologies, and compliance with legal and ethical standards.  


2. Freedom-to-Operate (FTO), Risk Analysis, & Risk Mitigation

  • Conducting FTO analyses to ensure that new products, processes, or technologies do not infringe third-party patents.
  • Providing invalidity and non-infringement opinions. 
  • Advising on potential risks related to third-party patents and suggesting strategies to mitigate these risks (e.g., licensing, design-arounds).

  • Developing and advising on IP strategies aligned with the company’s business goals.
  • Identifying opportunities to strengthen the company’s competitive position through IP protections.
  • Providing training to internal teams (e.g., R&D, marketing) on the importance of IP and best practices for protecting inventions.


4. Licensing and Technology Transfer

  • Drafting and negotiating IP-related agreements, such as licensing, joint ventures, and research collaboration agreements.
  • Assisting in technology transfer processes and ensuring IP protections are maintained.


5. Competitive Analysis and Monitoring

  • Monitoring competitor patent activity to identify emerging trends, threats, or opportunities.
  • Advising internal stakeholders on how competitor IP filings may impact the company’s business or R&D efforts.


6. Trade Secrets and Confidential Information Management

  • Advising on the protection of trade secrets and proprietary information.
  • Drafting and reviewing non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) to safeguard confidential information.


7. Patent Budgeting and Cost Management

  • Advising on patent-related costs and assisting in budgeting for IP activities.
  • Prioritizing patent filings based on business and strategic importance.


8. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Acting as a bridge between legal, technical, and business teams to align IP protections with corporate objectives.
